Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and AP Notes (note.lk), a community note-sharing platform for Sri Lankan Advanced Level science students, operated by Single Developers (SDev.LK) and AP.LK("AP Notes", "we", "us"). They govern your access to and use of the service. By creating an account or using AP Notes, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. These Terms work together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your data.

1. Eligibility

AP Notes is intended for Advanced Level students and others involved in A/L study. If you are under the age of digital consent in your country, you may use AP Notes only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. You are responsible for keeping your account secure and for all activity that happens under it, and you agree to provide accurate account information.

2. Acceptable use

When you use AP Notes, you agree that you will not:

  • upload or share content you do not have the right to share, or that infringes someone else's copyright or other rights;
  • post unlawful, harmful, misleading, hateful, harassing or sexually explicit content, or spam;
  • share content unrelated to A/L study, or impersonate another person;
  • attempt to break, probe or circumvent the security of the service, or scrape or bulk-download content without permission;
  • misuse the service in any way that harms other students or the platform.

Notes are reviewed by our moderators before they are published. We may remove content, or suspend or terminate accounts, that break these Terms or harm the community.

3. Your content and the licence you grant

You keep all ownership rights in the notes, files, images and other material you upload ("your content"). We do not claim ownership of it.

By uploading your content, you grant AP Notes a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt (for example to create thumbnails, previews and formatting), publish, display, distribute and process your content — including processing by our in-house LearniX AI to generate summaries — solely to operate, provide, secure and improve the service. This licence lasts for as long as your content remains on AP Notes and ends when the content is removed, except that we may retain backup or anonymised/aggregate copies for a reasonable period and as required by law.

You represent and warrant that you own your content or otherwise have all rights necessary to grant this licence, and that your content does not infringe the rights of any third party.

4. AP Notes intellectual property

The AP Notes name, logo, branding, software, design and the LearniX system are owned by AP Notes and its operators and are protected by law. These Terms do not grant you any right to use them except as needed to use the service normally.

5. AI summaries (LearniX)

LearniX-generated summaries are provided to help you learn. They are produced automatically and may occasionally be inaccurate or incomplete, and they are not a substitute for the original notes, your own study, or professional or academic advice.

6. Copyright and takedown requests

We respect intellectual property rights and expect our users to do the same. If you are a copyright owner (or authorised to act for one) and believe content on AP Notes infringes your copyright, send a notice to [email protected] including:

  1. identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed;
  2. the URL or enough detail for us to locate the specific content on AP Notes;
  3. your contact details (name, email);
  4. a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised by the owner, its agent, or the law;
  5. a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act on the owner's behalf.

We will review valid notices and remove or disable access to infringing content. Accounts of users who repeatedly infringe copyright may be terminated. If you believe your content was removed in error, you may contact the same address to dispute the removal.

7. Suspension and termination

You may stop using AP Notes at any time and can request account deletion from your settings. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or if necessary to protect the service or other users. What happens to your notes when you delete your account is described in our Privacy Policy.

8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

AP Notes is provided "as is" for educational purposes. While we work hard to keep notes accurate, useful and available, we do not warrant that the service or any content will be error-free, complete or uninterrupted. To the fullest extent permitted by law, AP Notes and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of the service or reliance on any content or study aid.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, and you agree that the courts of Sri Lanka have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them or your use of AP Notes.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Your continued use of AP Notes after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
