AP Notes (note.lk) is a community note-sharing platform for Sri Lankan Advanced Level science students. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using AP Notes you agree to the practices described here. Your use of AP Notes is also subject to our Terms of Service.

Data controller. AP Notes is operated by Single Developers (SDev.LK) and AP.LK, who act as the data controller responsible for your personal data under Sri Lanka's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA). You can reach us about any data matter at [email protected].

Information we collect

  • Account details. When you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address, profile photo and a Google account identifier. You may add a handle, school, grade year, bio and your preferred subjects and medium.
  • Content you create. Notes, PDFs and images you upload, quick notes, tags, descriptions, and your reactions, saves and follows.
  • Basic technical data. A session identifier (stored in a secure cookie) and ordinary server logs needed to operate and secure the service. These logs include your IP address, browser type and version, device and operating system, the pages or files you request, and the date and time of each request. We use this data to run the service, prevent abuse, and diagnose problems.

Signing in with Google

We use Google Sign-In only to verify your identity and create your account. We never receive your Google password, and we do not post or act on your behalf. You can revoke AP Notes' access at any time from your Google account settings.

Your notes and uploads

Notes you submit are reviewed by our moderators before they are published. Once published, a note and its files are publicly visible to other students. You remain in control: you can edit, withdraw, archive or delete your own notes from your dashboard at any time.

AI processing (LearniX)

Notes and documents on AP Notes are processed by LearniX, our own AI system running on AP Notes' private GPU servers, to generate summaries. This processing happens in-house on our own infrastructure. Your content is not sold, and it is not shared with third-party AI providers for their own purposes. AI-generated summaries are provided to help you learn and may occasionally be imperfect.

Cookies and sessions

We use a single secure, HTTP-only essential cookie to keep you signed in. With your consent, we also set analytics cookies (see below). We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. When you first visit, a cookie banner lets you accept or decline analytics; you can decline and still use AP Notes normally.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how AP Notes is used — for example which pages are popular — so we can improve the service. Google Analytics sets its own cookies and processes data such as your IP address and device information; see Google's Privacy Policy. We load Google Analytics only if you accept analytics cookiesin our cookie banner. If you decline, it is not loaded. We do not use advertising or cross-site ad-tracking tools.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can request account deletion from your settings; when you do, your account is deactivated immediately, your access is revoked, and we remove your personal profile data.

What happens to your notes. By default, notes you published publicly are kept but anonymised — they remain available to other students, but they are no longer attributed to you (authorship is shown as a deleted user). This preserves the shared study library the community relies on. If you would also like your uploaded notes and files permanently deleted, just ask us when you request deletion (or email [email protected]) and we will remove them. We may retain anonymised or aggregate records, and limited copies in backups, where reasonably necessary to operate the service or as required by law; backups are purged on a rolling cycle.

Your rights

You can access and update your profile at any time, export or correct your information, and request deletion of your account. To make a request, contact us using the details below.

Children and eligibility

AP Notes is intended for Advanced Level students and others involved in A/L study. If you are under the age of digital consent in your country, please use AP Notes with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
